"Pinot… but not overdone – delicate fruit, earthy and soft tannins" is how the Koerners describe this wine. We simply feel that it is the great middle between amazing Sonoma Coast and Yarra Valley styles. The wine is fresh, breezy, and perfect on its own or with friends.

Vineyard Notes

Hand harvested and sorted in vineyard on March 8th & 16th, 2021.

Soil Type(s): Sandy loam on Sandstone and soft red rock

Production Notes

The grapes are crushed and de-stemmed, retaining 50% whole berry with no whole bunch. The free run and later pressings are combined, then cold settled off gross lees for 7 days. The wine is fermented utilizing native yeasts in staibless steel exposed to open air and hand plunged twice daily. The time on the skins is 2 weeks in total. The wine is aged in 2,000L Slavonian Foudre for 10 months, then stainlesss steel for another 6. No fining or filtering.

Fun Facts

The Adelaide Hills are considered to be the coldest wine growing region in continental Australia, second only to Tasmania in the country as a whole. Windy conditions make this an ideal spot for grapes with smaller berries that thrive in cooler climates. The Willsmore vineyard is one of the highest and coldest sites at over 2,000 feet elevation!
