Such a unique expression of Sauvignon Blanc, a terroir driven style in the true sense utilising the skins to provide texture, depth and individuality. Notes of mandarin jam, lemongrass and honeysuckle that are beautifully complimented by gentle nutty oak derived characters. Toasted hazelnuts, subtle smoke and savory elements lend this full flavored wine a richness and texture usually reserved for Chardonnay. The finish is long with the intrinsic natural acid backbone revealing a wine with power, finesse, and precision.

Vineyard Notes

Hailing from the Home Block, these vines are planted with a North South orientation, with the fruit being shaded allowing for greater retention of mineral characters and natural acid. The soil consists of gravelly loam over clay and is naturally high in minerals.

Soil Type(s): Ancient laterite, clay and granite soils

Production Notes

The fruit was handpicked at first light and chilled down prior to processing with natural fermentation on skins for up to 2 weeks. The juice was then lightly pressed off mid ferment and transferred to 3-year-old French oak barriques and clay for completion of ferment. Maturation took place in these same oak barriques for 11 months with battonage. It is made in the same style as top White Bordeaux and Napa bottlings.

Fun Facts

2022 on the farm was nothing short of exceptional. Following one of the wettest winters in many years and a mild spring, summer bloomed with warm dry weather which continued right through vintage, resulting in a near perfect growing season with no disease pressure. Flowering and fruit set were excellent resulting in higher crops than the preceding few vintages, a welcome change which can also be attributed to the birds attention being drawn away from the vineyards by the abundant marri blossom, which began prior to the white harvest and continued right through until almost all of the reds were off. As the wines are released the excellence of this vintage becomes evident, wines are characterised by intense aromatics, opulent fruit, structure, depth and good natural acidity.
